Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi, studied hard and long, at his mother’s feet,
His religious spirit became a force within him.
It would see him through! His education to complete!
Studying The Vedas, the Quran, and the Bible to win!

Blessed by his Mother, At age 18, to London, he went!
He sought to be a lawyer, he thought! An education, he got!
A lawyer, a politician, an activist, a civil resistance leader,
a nonviolent reformer, a writer, a true peace seeker!

“A Gentle Giant” representing all of humanity!
he fought tirelessly against, prejudices and animosity
based on sex, race, cast, or choice of religiosity!
Mahatma Gandhi, wanted all men to be equal and free!

Rejecting, policies that infringed on civil liberties!
From Ahmedabad to Dandi, you could hear his cry
For the Indian people to unite! Chanting “Do or Die”
bleeding and dying, if need be to end anarchy, non -violently!

Thousands of Indians, men, and women, by his side, at the age of 73,
he marched 242 miles to Dandi by the sea to make salt, seeking unity and liberty,
which ultimately led to victory! Some died, some were beaten!
60,000 arrested, imprisoned for their actions! Including Gandhi!

A man with an indomitable will! A man whose thoughts, what he said,
and what he did were in harmony! He never lost faith in humanity!
In a gentle way, He shook the world! True Patriot! Father of India!
A Hero and More! That is who Mahatma Gandhi is to me!
